I have the best wife in the world! She's given the go ahead for my dream room...... Something I've I've been dreaming about since I watched my first episode of Silver Spoons!

Here is my concept: A retro game room that houses ALL my geek related junk and also allows guests to relax just a bit and be social...... Figuring out a layout that maximizes the limited garage space was tough but Google Sketch-up absolutely saved my life! I basically played a game of tetris with that program moving things around the room until I found a configuration that allowed for some relaxing as well as classic arcade gaming!

The journey to get here has been long one...... Over the years my wife and I had collected a ton of stuff that we just stacked into our garage when we no longer had use for it. Here is a pic of what our garage used looked like.
Garage full

But after a couple of garage sales we managed to get rid of most of it! And so, my arcade collecting began!

Truck

Aaaand I went pretty nuts..... I already owned the classic starwars vector game that me and a buddy had picked up for $200.00 when I was 18 and just before we got rid of all our junk I had picked up my absolute favorite game growing up..... Discs of TRON! After that I just went into a berserker buying frenzy! I picked up Mario bros, Donkey Kong, Punch-out, Tron (the standard game), WWF Wrestlefest, Tempest and Bionic commando. A buddy of mine gave me a beat up Popeye, a really decent Gyruss and an awesome upright Pacman! Another buddy of mine had a father in law who owned a Mrs. Pac-Man cocktail table he was looking to get rid of that had been collecting dust under his carport for years.... It was beat to hell but with a little TLC it came back to life!. I did all that buying and collecting with in like 8 months!!! I made enough room in the garage to have a somewhat organized place to play my games......

Games

Games 2

But it was still not quite there yet...... Really just felt like a garage filled with..... OTHER junk. So after crunching some numbers we decided to go full on game room!!! But before we could begin we had to pack up all the games and put them in storage..... I wept a bit but knew they would be back soon enough.

Pack up

below is some of the construction that has already taken place! I guess I'll updating as things move forward!
